8:30 PM: Snow To Affect Parts Of Area Tonight
The storm that has been affecting much of the southeast US with significant snow and ice totals has continued to track northwest, with snow currently falling across southeastern parts of the region. The model guidance has generally kept the snow southeast of the area, but with some runs last night and this morning having trended further inland, bringing snow showers up to northwestern NJ with up to 1-2″ in NYC and 4-5″ in eastern parts of the area. While snow is expected to spread into the area, dry air remains situated over the region with very low dew points, and for tonight’s outlook, the forecast at this time is for snow showers with less than 1/2″ in NYC and SW CT, and up to 1-3″ of snow in Long Island and southeast CT. Other parts of the area inland of NYC may see snow showers but with little to no accumulation expected, if any snow does fall.
