Earlier this morning, an area of light to moderate snow extended into eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania well ahead of the clipper system low pressure centered near Wisconsin. The precipitation shield was expected to mostly collapse as it crossed the Appalachian mountains over Pennsylvania, which was supported by a broad consensus with the short range high-resolution models, but instead survived the passage over the higher elevations, and has reached the area. Light snow showers are currently falling over northern NJ and NYC, and will continue to shift east into Long Island over the next hour. Snow accumulations around a dusting are generally expected. The outlook for the rest of tonight and tomorrow remains unchanged, with the possibility existing for snow showers with the cold front late tomorrow morning.
