Nov 23, 2013 Evening Update: Snow Squalls

7:00 PM: Snow Squalls Moving In

2348As a strong arctic front moves in, bringing an unseasonably cold air mass with near record cold temperatures for Sunday and Monday, widespread snow squalls have been observed across the Northeast, with low visibility and strong wind gusts. Temperatures in the NYC area are more marginal, although some of the snow squalls have reached locations north/west of NYC, such as White Plains, NY which is currently reporting 1 mile visibility. These isolated snow squalls will continue for the next few hours before winding down, with any snow squall capable of producing low visibility, slippery roads and up to a coating of snow inland.

The next forecast discussion on the anomalous cold and the potential midweek storm, and an updated 8-day forecast, will be posted by 8-9 PM.
