5:30 PM: Some Storms This Evening

2118Earlier this morning through the early afternoon, an area of showers and thunderstorms affected the area, with radar estimates showing rain totals generally between 1/4 and 1/2 inch, locally higher. Temperatures due to the cloud cover and rain remain chilly so far, only in the upper 60s to low 70s, after having peaked in the mid-upper 70s early in the day. The initial round of rain produced less rain than initially expected, and widespread storms have failed to initiate over eastern PA and western NY, with only isolated shower activity popping up. Additional scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this evening with less than 1/4 inch for most places, although locally higher totals can’t be ruled out, with rain moving out later tonight.
